  • Notes
    • Abstracts of Vital Records From Raleigh, N.C. Newspapers, 1820-1829, by Lois S. Neal, vol. 2, page 696:
"Death: In Warren County, on the 21st ult., in the 75th year of his age, Mr. DRURY THOMPSON, a soldier of the Revolution." Raleigh, N.C. Star, 10 Apr 1828.

Son of Benjamin Thompson who died 1771 in Bute County, North Carolina. Some of his great-grandchildren through Benjamin Jr.'s son Jesse later claimed that Benjamin Thompson and some children came from Ireland about 1743, although other descendants said he came from Amelia County, Virginia, where he or another Benjamin Thompson was on record.
