A granite footstone on Conrad's grave commemorates his service during the American Revolution with the German Fusiliers of Charleston, South Carolina from July 12, 1775 to March 3, 1777. The Daughters of the American Revolution have placed a bronze marker on his grave and the Sons of the American Revolution have placed a granite marker on his grave.

MONUMENT INSCRIPTION:
Conrad Schlup and Anna Maria Albrecht married in Rowan County, N.C. July 9, 1778. Their 200 acre plantation was 2.5 miles west of this monument. They were devout Lutherans. In 1799 Conrad's name appears as a trustee for the United German Congregation on the deed for the property this monument stands on. In 1803 he represented Lutheran Chapel Church at the founding meeting of the N.C. Lutheran Synod. [His name] Schlup was Anglicized to Sloop during his lifetime. Erected by descendants, July 27, 2002.
